Bolgheri Rosso Superiore DOC "Renzo"

This bottle is dedicated to Lorenzo Tringali Casanuova, whose family owned the farm from 1698 to 2013. The first vintage was the 2005, the year of his death, when he was more than 80 years old. He was an engineer, a very kind and polite man. Even if his name was Lorenzo, he called himself Renzo. On the label you can see his own signature, that was taken by his son from a document and placed on the bottle.

Originally and till the 2013 this wine was the only Bolgheri Superiore of the winery. The blend was 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot. In 2013 another Bolgheri Superiore was born from 100% Merlot (the "Liborio"). Since then we decided to produce two different Bolgheri Superiore: one 100% Merlot (Liborio) and one 100% Caberent Sauvignon ("Renzo"). This is the reason why in every vintage of "Renzo" we add a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon, in order to reach 100%.

The vintage 2016 was actually made from 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5%  Merlot. From 2018 it will be 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Only the best grapes are used to compose Renzo. It ages for 18 months in French oak barrels of 1st and 2nd fill, and then at least 1 year in bottle to reach its full potential to the uncorking moment. 

On the nose: tobacco, liquorice, spices, dark chocolate.

On the palate: elegant tannins, round taste.

Great ageing potential.
